Shannon Dosemagen

Shannon Dosemagen (she/her) is the Interim Executive Director & President of Code for Science & Society. She brings more than 15 years of executive leadership experience building mission-driven organizations at the intersection of open science, technology, environmental governance, and public participation. Having served on the CS&S Board of Directors for the past six years, she brings deep familiarity with the organization's mission, operations, community, and fiscally sponsored project model, along with extensive experience in nonprofit governance through service on multiple national boards.

In addition to her role at CS&S, Shannon serves as Senior Ecosystem & Collaboration Advisor for Civic Science at the Rita Allen Foundation and as a Senior Fellow with the Open Environmental Data Project. She previously co-founded and served for a decade as Executive Director of Public Lab (2010–2020), an international community advancing open approaches to environmental monitoring and research. She later founded the Open Environmental Data Project, where she served as Executive Director from 2020 to 2024, to strengthen the governance, stewardship, and use of environmental and climate data.

Shannon is a co-founder of the Gathering for Open Science Hardware and the Open Science Hardware Foundation, where she continues to serve on the Board of Directors. She has also chaired the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's National Advisory Council on Environmental Policy and Technology (NACEPT) and the Association for the Advancement of Participatory Sciences. Her work has been recognized through fellowships from the Shuttleworth Foundation, the Claneil Foundation, the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University, and Ashoka.
