In 2023, CS&S Senior Program Manger Miliaku Nwabueze curated and facilitated the speaking series called “Courageous Conversations” where open-source technologists and scientists, solidarity economy ecosystem nerds, co-ops, lawyers, farmers, and frontline activists discussed the co-optation of disruption in open tech. The reverberation throughout the series was that ‘life’ is simply what we’re fighting for.

On March 6th, 2023, the Digital Infrastructure Incubator (DII) practice tank and program launched its second cohort. The program aims to explore “divergent tech” and I, Miliaku Nwabueze, have been recently hired as a Senior Program Manager at Code for Science & Society to lead the DII program with support from Dr. Angela Okune and Dr. Rayya El Zein.

The Incubator hosted sessions on engaging volunteers and volunteer labor, on considerations for scaling open projects, on developing a financial strategy, and on the landscape of digital infrastructure funding.
